Louis Erard joins forces with Vianney Halter to create Le Régulator
Vianney Halter is a household name, at least in the watchmaking community. Its name is synonymous with innovation, pioneering design and passion. His timepieces are as dear as they are adored, each watch symbolizing the craftsman’s unique approach to watchmaking. But its status quo as one of the larger ones means that its timepieces are generally very difficult to obtain, not only because they are quite expensive, but because they are produced in such a limited supply.
So, in the pursuit of accessibility, Vianney Halter sought to challenge himself to create a watch that bears all the hallmarks of its name, but at a still relatively affordable price. Partnership with Louis Erard, one of the best watchmakers in this price segment, Vianney Halter, was able to create a watch that pays homage to his brand.
Enter the Regulator, Louis Erard’s second collaborative timepiece and perhaps his largest to date. The Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Regulator is a timepiece of supreme beauty, executed with the greatest perfection. Vianney Halter’s stylistic cues and design direction are evident throughout, including her blued steel fountain pen-shaped hands and highly architectural polished stainless steel case.
The dial of the Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Regulator is magnificent, again reflecting the talents of the master watchmaker. Divided into two plates, the upper plate in silver and featuring a circular satin finish while the lower plate is in matte gray and features microblasted silver counters. The dial also features black transfers and satin-finished horizontal appliques with the Louie Erard logo at 3 o’clock and the Vianney Halter logo at 9 o’clock.
Vianney Halter extended his influence with The Regulator by incorporating one of his inimitable designs, a crenellated crown, similar to that used in his Antiqua model. I particularly like the depth of the dial with its multi-level plates, as well as the contrast of different textures and the very elaborate blued steel hands.
The Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Regulator is powered by the Sellita SW266-1 caliber, which has a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. The automatic regulator has been fully decorated and features an openwork oscillating weight with the Louis Erard symbol.
The Louis Erard x Vianney Halter Regulator is a return to basics, in a way. Its design aligns with Vianney Halter’s unique style which he calls “future past”, which means 19th century watches would have been if they had been created in the future. He reportedly said: “I wanted to see if I was able to reach all those who love my watches but cannot buy them. Louis Erard allowed me to do that while remaining true to myself.”
Louis Erard has once again gone the extra mile and in partnership with master craftsman Vianney Halter they have both created a timepiece that is a fitting tribute to their own individual stylistic approaches, interwoven in harmony and balance. .
The Le Régulator Louis Erard x Vianney halter is limited to 178 pieces and is priced at 3500CHF.
